Brian studied with Alexander Goehr at the University of Cambridge and then continued his studies at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, taking composition lessons from, amongst others, Górecki and Lutosławski.
Brian continues to enjoy an ongoing relationship with Poland, scoring many acclaimed Polish films along with music for the Polish stage adaptation of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America. He has also written a considerable volume of music for television and his work is heard regularly on flagship programmes including the BBC’s Panorama and Coast and CBS’s 60 Minutes.
Other credits include orchestrations for the BBC’s Olympic coverage, multimedia presentations for the Millennium Dome in London and commercials for leading global brands including Hewlett Packard and Coca-Cola.
A number of Brian’s film scores have been released as albums by Virgin Classics, Decca and Silva Screen and Brian is also on the editorial board of the journal The Soundtrack.
